AASA “Discover China” program delegation visited MOE and CEAIE on the morning of July 13, 2017. Director of Division of Teacher Education of MOE Dinghua Wang, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE Ms. Xuesong Shen, and Bo Fu and Jing Huang from Department of International Cooperation of CEAIE accommodated the group.
Ms. Shen welcomed the delegation and introduced the Chinese participants. Then he described CEAIE’s mission, programs, and international exchanges and cooperation, such as “1000 Schools Hand in Hand Initiative”. Ms. Shen mentioned that CEAIE was looking forward to cooperating with AASA, including strengthening cooperation, enhancing K-12 education quality, helping more Chinese and the US’s schools establish friendly relationships, fostering students, teachers, and leaders’ visits and exchanges, inviting American educators to join China International Education Annual Conference held in Beijing every October. Director Wang gave a brief introduction of China’s K-12 education and teacher training.
After that, proud principal of Willow Dale Elementary School Michael Donnelly introduced the Centennial School District and the student’s learning situation. He said that the schools in the Centennial school district are looking forward to establishing friendly relationships with Chinese schools. They are willing to offer Chinese students the opportunities to study at William Tennnent High School and hope their students can study in China as well. AASA Chief Operating Officer Mr. Charles Woodruff then described their cooperative programs with China, including structure of American typical school districts, comparison between China and the US education, AASA and its membership, and AASA operative programs.
At last, Mr. Woodruff and Ms. Fu made concluding remarks, hoping that the two sides could seek substantive cooperation in the future. Then they exchanged gifts and took pictures to end this pleasant visit.
