Guizhou Mining Delegation Visits Carlin Gold Mine in US Heartland – January, 2014

In early January, 2014, a 21-member mining delegation from Guizhou province, southwest of China visited Gold Quarry Mine, Carlin, Nevada, the heartland of America to gain some hands on experience in protecting the environment while exploring Carlin-type gold deposit. Organic geochemical studies have shown that there are two typical of Carlin-type deposits in Guizhou. The Chinese delegation that consists of mining engineers, geologists, and officials in charge of environmental issues has visited mining sites and talked with their US counterparts in California and Nevada, as well as in east coast.Since a Shale Gas field is found in Guizhou, which accounts for 4 percent of total reserve in China, the delegation also had a chance to pay a visit to a Williamsport Shale Gas drilling site to learn about how to prevent water pollution during drilling &Hydraulic fracturing, among many other environmental protection issues.
