Vocational and technical education is becoming more and more important in China. Higher education system in the country used to value unitary and homogenized standards. Such system has been repeatedly questioned and challenged by schools, parents and students. Thriving from critical thinking, Triway has extended its cross-cultural programs into the fields of vocational education. To supply more versatile and practical talents for the community, we work closely together with national vocational education associations and local schools in China to advocate problem-solving and hands-on learning methodology, and has created customized training programs in the United States from Chinese education institutions and individuals. This 21 or 45-day program is designed for head of department, president or vice president of schools, and other management professionals at higher education institutions, including vocational and technical education institutions. Major subjects include introduction to the modern higher education system, strategic planning in US vocational education institutions, fund raising, financial management, working ethics, academic integrity, structure of teaching team, selection and evaluation of teachers, curriculum design, admission process, board management, school operation and governance, leadership, and quality control. Trainees will attend lectures in well-recognized public and private universities, visit major public and private institutions of vocational and technical education, and meet with government agencies and non-government organizations involved in educational administration and evaluation. Trainees will also have the opportunity to have in-depth discussion with their US peers and counterparts. Through these activities, we help trainees to gain overall understanding about the vocational and technical education system and school management practices in the United States. Since 2008, we have provided acclaimed high quality programs quite a number of professional from Chinese vocational and technical education institutions.
Trainings for Teachers
This 3 or 6-week program is designed for key teaching staff members from vocational education institutions. Major training subjects include overview of the US community college system, core value and philosophy of vocational education, curriculum development, teaching methodology and techniques, “flipped classroom” theories and practices, employment of multimedia, distance learning, and career consulting. The program consists of lectures, classroom auditing, and visits to various community colleges in different cities. Such arrangement allows trainees to obtain first-hand experiences in class administration, interaction with students, and creative curriculum design and in turn develop understanding of the characteristics of and difference between vocational education systems of the two countries. Since 2012, we have completed high quality training programs for hundreds of teaching professionals from Beijing, Tianjin, Guizhou, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Guangdong and other provinces.
